Somatic therapy is a body based approach to healing that focuses on the connection between the mind, body, emotions, and nervous system. Many of our experiences, stress responses, and emotions are not only stored cognitively, but are also held within the body through tension, sensations, nervous system activation, or patterns of disconnection.

In somatic work, we gently bring awareness to bodily sensations, emotions, breath, and nervous system responses in order to better understand what the body may be communicating. Rather than focusing only on talking through experiences, somatic therapy helps create greater connection between the mind and body while supporting regulation, safety, and emotional processing.

My approach to somatic work is integrated and individualized, often incorporating mindfulness, grounding, nervous system awareness, and body based processing into therapy sessions when appropriate. Many people find this work helpful for trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, disconnection from self, and nervous system dysregulation.
