EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence based therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from distressing experiences, trauma, anxiety, and negative beliefs that may feel “stuck” in the nervous system. During EMDR, we use bilateral stimulation such as eye movements, tapping, or alternating sounds while gently focusing on thoughts, emotions, body sensations, or memories connected to an experience.
This process helps the brain reprocess experiences in a healthier and more adaptive way, often reducing the emotional intensity attached to them. Many people find that experiences which once felt overwhelming begin to feel more distant, manageable, and less emotionally charged over time.
EMDR can help with trauma, anxiety, panic, self esteem, relationship patterns, chronic stress, and other experiences where the nervous system has remained stuck in survival mode.
