Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence based, trauma focused therapy designed to help the brain and body process distressing experiences in a way that often feels faster and more gentle than traditional talk therapy alone. ART combines elements of eye movements, visualization, and nervous system regulation to help reduce the emotional intensity connected to painful memories, anxiety, stress, and other distressing experiences.
During ART, we use guided eye movements while briefly focusing on difficult memories, emotions, or sensations. This process helps the brain reprocess experiences in a way that can decrease distress while creating space for new perspectives, emotional relief, and greater nervous system regulation. One unique aspect of ART is that clients do not have to verbally share every detail of an experience in order for healing to occur.
Many people find ART helpful for trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, phobias, chronic stress, negative self beliefs, and experiences that continue to feel emotionally overwhelming or “stuck.”
